Why I built Echoes
I've always been a nostalgic person. I love old photos, videos, and vacation albums.
In 2025, my mother turned 72. I'd been playing around with AI for a while, and I wanted to make her a special gift - to take her old childhood photos and the photos of her parents, and bring them back to life. I tested multiple models, tweaked a lot of prompts, and after plenty of trial and error, I managed to create a full video gift of her memories coming to life.
That's how Echoes was born. I figured that if I could simplify all of that, anyone could create an emotional video gift of their parents - or their grown children - in minutes, without the trial and error.

Your video's length is set by the package you choose. The smallest is a 1-minute video, which takes 12 photos in Classic style or 13 in Growing style, since Growing blends each photo into the next. Each extra minute is 12 more photos, so the more photos you have, the longer your video can be. You can upload up to 80 photos at a time and keep adding.
Photos with clear, front-facing subjects and good lighting tend to generate the best animations. Older or blurry images can still work, though results may vary with photo quality and how clearly the faces show. The number of people matters too: Classic style handles group photos well, while Growing style works best with fewer than 3 people in each photo.
Most people finish their whole video in under 30 minutes. Each photo is animated in the background, so you can leave the tab and we'll notify you when it's ready - then compile your final video whenever you're happy with the animations.
